Man Arrested In Fatal Shooting Near Loudoun County: Police UPDATE
UPDATE: Authorities arrested a man in the shooting death of Loudoun County man late Sunday morning, according to the Virginia State Police.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA—Authorities have arrested a West Virginia man in the shooting death of a Loudoun County man late Sunday morning, March 17, near the Shenandoah River in Clarke County, Virginia State Police announced Wednesday.
Dale Lee Wright, 50, of Charles Town, was charged with 1st degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the death of Jeffrey B. Evans, 72, of Bluemont. Police say numerous tips held lead to the arrest.
Around 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Evans was parked in a gravel lot off Castleman Road near the Shenandoah River to meet Wright about a possible business transaction. Witnesses said they saw a white man standing outside Evans' gray Ford pickup.

Within a matter of minutes, Evans was shot following an argument with Wright but still was able to drive away and make it to Route 7, where he crashed into an embankment around 11:25 a.m. Other witnesses reported seeing a man—Wright—run across Route 7 and up to the pickup after it crashed before fleeing the area.
Evans did at the scene, and his remains were taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas for examination and autopsy.
