How do you know the teacher?

Percussion director for Freedom High School band

What does this person teach?

Middle school band; marching band/drumline percussion and front ensemble

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

Mr. Reeves presently works with the high school marching band front ensemble and percussion students in addition to his full time job working as a middle school band teacher. Mr. Reeves consistently goes above and beyond both in terms of setting a positive example for all of the students he works with and his responsiveness to parents and colleagues. He serves as a role model in demonstrating his genuine enthusiasm and enjoyment for the work he does as well as showing students and families his commitment and investment to the school community through his actions and not just his words. I have watched Mr. Reeves accept additional roles and responsibilities in order that students have the fullest band experience possible and work alongside the parent volunteers regardless of the time and fatigue. I have also seen him volunteer additional time at after school middle school events to assure that they run as smoothly as possible. He is often present cheering students in the audience if he is available and not coaching them when other teachers are not as visible. He does all of this while keeping a smile on his face and somehow even takes the time to reply to parent emails. Mr. Reeves deserves such appreciation and recognition for all he does to pass on the joy of band to the students and families he works with.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

Mr. Reeves deserves such appreciation and recognition for all he does to pass on the joy of band to the students and families he works with. He is often present cheering students in the audience if he is available and not coaching them when other teachers are not as visible. He does all of this while keeping a smile on his face and somehow even takes the time to reply to parent emails. Mr. Reeves makes teaching an opportunity to engage with students and the community, to inspire by example, and to seek to enhance the motivation of students to enjoy the music they play rather than making teaching or directing appear like work.
