Dog Rescued From Beaverdam Reservoir By Loudoun Fire And Rescue Units
Kona the dog got a helping hand from Loudoun County Fire and Rescue crews in the icy waters of Beaverdam Reservoir.

ASHBURN, VA — A dog escaped the chilly waters of the Beaverdam Reservoir with the help of Loudoun County Fire and Rescue units Sunday.
Fire and rescue units responded around 4 p.m. Sunday to the Beaverdam Reservoir in the Broadlands area of the county. The dog, named Kona, had fallen into the reservoir, leading the owners to attempt a rescue. The dog was about 12 feet from the shore when fire and rescue arrived.
According to the fire and rescue department, units used ladders and pike poles from a fire engine to break the ice and get the dog back to land. The rescue happened before staff wearing ice rescue suits arrived from Leesburg and Kincora.

According to Loudoun County Fire and Rescue, Kona was reunited with his owners and did not have injuries.
