Fee-Waived Adoption Event Comes To Loudoun Animal Shelter
Loudoun County Animal Services will host a fee-waived adoption event at their new animal shelter on Saturday, Dec. 18.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — There's no place like home for the holidays. With that in mind, the Loudoun County Animal Shelter will host a fee-waived adoption event to get homes for as many animals as possible.
The adoption event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18. The day-long event will take place at Loudoun County Animal Services's new shelter at 42225 Adoption Drive in Leesburg.
In an effort to help pets around the region, Loudoun County Animal Services announced that they would take in dogs and cats from under-resourced shelters around the area before the event.

Jennie Clutterbuck is a Loudoun County Animal Services employee who is working to help transfer animals to the shelter leading up to the event. "
“The holidays are about hope,” Clutterbuck said. “There are thousands of pets around the country wishing for a family to call their own. This is our opportunity to help our partners in under-resourced communities and make those holiday wishes come true.”

This year's event is part of a nationwide "Empty the Shelters" effort sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation. The effort, which began in 2016, is designed to encourage more families to welcome pets into their homes.
Nearly 68,000 pets have found adoptive homes through this adoption event, Loudoun County Animal Services said.
Loudoun County's event will also feature goodie bags for adopters and other seasonal holiday touches. Santa Claus will even stop by for a visit, event organizers said.
Prospective adopters can view available animals on the shelter's website.
