Loudoun County Animal Services will host a "Homeward Bound" free adoption event at their shelter in Leesburg on Saturday, May 7.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A free adoption event is coming to Loudoun County Animal Service's shelter in Leesburg on Saturday, May 7. The "Homeward Bound" fee-waived adoption event will run from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The adoption event will feature cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, small pets and reptiles. All pets will be available without any fees.
"Nationwide, shelters are seeing increased intakes of animals, and longer lengths of stay," Loudoun County Animal Services Director Nina Stively said."While we have been fortunate to maintain a high adoption rate here at Loudoun, these events are crucial in helping our local pets find loving forever homes, while also supporting our partner shelters in rural communities.”

Loudoun County Animal Services said they would host up to 20 dogs and cats from other shelters in the region. The animals will come from shelters dealing with overcrowding, in an effort to hope more animals find a home.
"All dogs and cats adopted from LCAS are spayed or neutered, have age-appropriate vaccinations and receive a microchip registered to their adopter," the animal shelter said in a news release. "The standard adoption screening process will apply during the Homeward Bound event and most adoptions can be completed on the same day."
