Garage Fire In Middle-Unit Sterling Townhouse Originates In Vehicle
Fire investigators traced back the cause of a house fire to a vehicle in the garage, according to Loudoun County Fire and Rescue.

STERLING, VA — A significant fire at a middle-unit townhouse in Sterling Tuesday originated in a vehicle parked in the garage, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue said. There were no injuries, but the fire displaced three people.
Around 7:28 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters responded to multiple 911 calls in the 45800 block of Peach Oak Terrace. Units found significant fire showing from a middle-unit townhome and requested a rapid intervention task force to bring in more fire units. Firefighters used multiple handlines to control much of the fire and contain it in the garage about 10 minutes after arrival. Crews then checked for extensions inside the home. No firefighters were injured.
Damages from the fire were estimated to be $650,000. The fire marshal's office determined the cause of the fire to be a mechanical malfunction in a vehicle parked in the garage. Two adults and one child were displaced and are receiving Red Cross assistance. Smoke alarms were present and working, the fire department said.
