Graffiti Disparaging Hindu Culture Reported Across Ashburn

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office received six reports of destruction of property involving black markings on community signs Thursday.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received six reports of graffiti that used language disparaging Hindu culture across Ashburn.

The graffiti, written in black marker on various community signs, is believed to be related to similar reports in the area beginning as early as July 2014. Three of the affected community areas were vandalized in previous destruction of property incidents reported Sept. 25-26.

All six incidents were reported roughly around 7 to 8 a.m. Thursday morning. The incidents occurred in the following areas:

  • CreightonRd./Olympia Dr.
  • Winter HavenDr./Morning Walk Dr. (two reported incidents)
  • Belmont RidgeRd./Myan Gold Dr.
  • ShreveportDr./Northstar Blvd.
  • TradewindDr./Evergreen Mills Rd.

Since July, 16 reported cases have emerged in the Brambleton community. The majority of graffiti has been written on exercise stations, park benches, a pedestrian bridge and community signs, according to Loudoun County Crime Solvers.

Loudoun County Crime Solvers and the Brambleton community home owner’s association are now offering a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for the vandalism.
