Greenway Crash Nets Wanted Man in Loudoun

One man who died has been identified, while another was taken into custody for unrelated reasons.

An accident Friday afternoon on the Dulles Greenway resulted in the death of one man and the arrest of another who was wanted by the U.S. Marshals’ Service, according to a report from the Virginia State Police.

State Police officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash near Mile Marker Five of the Greenway and an investigation determined that a 2008 Nissan Altima traveling westbound crossed the median into eastbound traffic and struck a Detwiler Coach Lines commercial charter bus head on. Heavy rain was falling at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Nissan, Frank Elliott, 60, of Walkersville, MD, died at the scene, while his two adult male passengers were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No one on the bus, which had 52 occupants, was reported injured; however, investigations determined U.S. Marshals wanted the bus driver, Norman Pleasant, of Washington, DC, for unrelated reasons and took him into custody. The bus was destined for Harpers Ferry, WV.
