ASHBURN, VA — For Lovettsville resident Charles Guzek, it was exciting when his wife won $100 from a lottery scratch ticket. But the excitement reached a new level when he won a much larger Powerball prize.

"It’s surreal!" Guzek, an engineer, told the Virginia Lottery. "There was a lot of screaming and yelling!"

Guzek won $1 million from the Nov. 25 Powerball drawing. His ticket matched the first five numbers and only missed the Powerball number for a chance at the Powerball jackpot. The winning numbers were 5-35-45-60-63, and the Powerball number was 12.

The winning ticket came from the Harris Teeter at 20070 Ashbrook Commons Plaza in Ashburn. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for selling a $1 million Powerball ticket.

Guzek used Easy Pick to use random computer-generated numbers on the Powerball ticket. The chances of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, while the chances of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25.
