Loudon Honors First Responders at Annual Valor Awards

The community will gather to honor 105 citizens, including 84 career and volunteer emergency first responders and 21 civilians.

From Loudoun Chamber: On April 20, 2017, the Loudoun County business community will gather to honor 105 heroes, including 84 career and volunteer emergency first responders and 21 civilians, at the 32nd Annual Loudoun County Valor Awards.

With the addition of the still unnamed Stu Plitman First Responder Community Service Award honoree, the 2017 Loudoun County Valor Awards will have record number of honorees.

“It is a privilege to honor these 105 first responders and citizens for their acts of courage and dedication to the safety and security of our community. Their poise and decisiveness in the face of great danger command our abiding respect and appreciation. On April 20th, we look forward to saying “Thank You” to these real-life heroes and all they do for our community,” said Loudoun Chamber President Tony Howard.

The Stu Plitman First Responder Community Service Award. Named for Stu Plitman, founder of the Loudoun First Responders Foundation and a tireless advocate for Loudoun’s public safety personnel, honors those first responders who demonstrate the highest commitment to fostering positive relationships with the Loudoun community in ways that positively enhance the safety and security of our citizens.

“It is a privilege to be surrounded by so many brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day in service of their community. It is an honor for me, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office and all area first responders to recognize and thank them for their exceptional sacrifices and valor at this annual event,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman.

“I am pleased and honored to congratulate the 2017 Valor Award honorees. The heroic actions of the members of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue system, are a continuing testament to our commitment to provide the community with the best fire and rescue protection possible. You make us all very proud,” said W. Keith Brower, Chief of Loudoun County’s Combined Fire and Rescue System.

“I am tremendously appreciative that the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce continues to recognize the acts of bravery of our first responders, and acknowledges the sacrifices and risk they are subject to daily,” said Gregory C. Brown, Chief of Police, Leesburg Police Department. “These men and women regularly face a multitude of challenges as they work to keep our communities safe and often do so with no concern or regard for their own safety. The Valor Awards gives the community another opportunity to show we all are truly grateful for what they do.”
