On Wednesday morning, unofficial results showed Anderson with a slim lead of just over 1,000 votes. Most ballots from Election Day have been tallied, but provisional ballots and some mail-in ballots have not been counted yet.

"Thank you to the many Loudoun County residents who came out to vote today in important elections up and down the ballot," Biberaj said in a news release on Tuesday night. “Our race is too-close-to-call, with several precincts left to count, as well as more mail in votes and provisional ballots. I look forward to the Loudoun County election canvass starting tomorrow to ensure that every vote is counted in this close race."

On Wednesday morning, Anderson took to Facebook to claim victory.

"There is no current path to victory for Buta Biberaj, and we look forward to waiting for the due process to run course," Anderson said. "I am confident the results will remain the same, and look forward to serving as your next Commonwealth’s Attorney."

In response to Patch's candidate questionnaire, Biberaj said her accomplishments in office include: violent crime fell by 31% and the daily jail population decreased by over 44%. She created policies that addressed the needs of the victim survivors so that the harm caused to them was not further aggravated by the court process. And the office added victim and witness case managers to assist them with obtaining restitution, medical and counseling services, and safe housing.

"The single most pressing issue facing our county is the insufficiency of safe gun laws. I will work with the legislature to pass a ban on assault rifles, gun lock laws, and background checks," Biberaj said. "Further, I will continue to work with law enforcement to educate our community and enforce the Red Flag law which permits an individual to temporarily transfer their firearms to a person of their choice or law enforcement during periods of mental health crisis, so they don't harm themselves or others."

Anderson did not respond to Patch's questionnaire.

Biberaj has faced controversy during her time as Loudoun's chief prosecutor. In 2022, a murder suspect was mistakenly released due to miscommunication between the sheriff's office and Biberaj's office. Biberaj and Sheriff Mark Chapman issued news releases blaming the other for the mistake.
