Loudoun Hunger Relief Tops 161 Nonprofit Recipients Of Give Choose Day

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun Hunger Relief was the top recipient of Give Choose Day on Tuesday held by the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties.

The 24-hour day of giving raised more than $904,000 in contributions for 161 nonprofits, as of 3 p.m. Wednesday. Loudoun Hunger Relief, which has provided food assistance to residents in need since 1991, topped the list of recipients with $52,529 in donations. Combined with $2,000 in bonus prizes from sponsors for fundraising challenges, the nonprofit received $54,529.

Loudoun Hunger Relief won a $1,000 grand prize for most dollars raised online for a large organization. The other $1,000 grand prize winner for most dollars raised was Loudoun Community Cat Coalition in the small organization category.

Other grand prize winners were Humane Society Of Loudoun County for most donors online for a small organization and Friends of Homeless Animals for a large organization. Various other nonprofits each won bonus prizes between $100 and $750.

According to the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, the March 25 Give Choose event allowed residents to support causes they care about, from helping people in need and animals to supporting education and protecting the environment. An early giving event from March 11 to March 24 preceded Give Choose Day.

The top 10 donation recipients from Give Choose Day as of 3 p.m. Wednesday were:

3. Tree of Life Ministries: $33,501.73

4. Morven Park: $33,295.25

5. Middleburg Humane Foundation: $32,355.16

6. A Place To Be: $32,263.45

7. Ryan Bartel Foundation: $30,786.66

8. Friends of Homeless Animals: $28,786.13

9. Legacy Farms Virginia: $28,264.40

10. Loudoun Community Cat Coalition: $26,759.98
