Loudoun Weather: Slippery Roads Tuesday Night, Freezing Rain Advisory Issued

BREAKING: Ice may accumulate on roads and walkways in parts of Loudoun County, National Weather Service warns.

ASHBURN, VA — Drivers and pedestrians alike should be extra careful on roads and sidewalks Tuesday night into Wednesday due to potential ice accumulation in parts of Loudoun County.

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory, effective from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday.

A freezing rain advisory means that roads and walkways will become slippery.

Loudoun County and regions to the west and north are included in the advisory. The freezing rain is expected to start between 6 and 9 p.m., spreading from west to east.

Drivers are advised to slow down and increase following distance.

Weather officials are predicting ice accumulation of less than one-tenth inch. Temperatures are forecast to be in the high 20s and low 30s during the advisory period.
