Memorial Day Races Highlight One Loudoun Celebration In Ashburn

ASHBURN, VA—As Memorial Day celebrations go, this one literally is bound to get the day off to a running start. It's the "Ringing in Hope: Walk, Fun and Run" event 7-11 a.m. Monday, May 27, in the One Loudoun area at 20626 Easthampton Plaza.

Not only will there be a 5K and 10K race, as well as a 1K "Freedom Fun Run," there also will be music, food, kids activities and games, prizes and more. If you choose to run or race, entry prices range from $15 to $50, with proceeds targeted for Boulder Crest Retreat, "a nonprofit wellness center for veterans and their families who receive guidance and assistance needed to heal from combat-related stress."

Here's the schedule for the event:

6:30 am

• Packet Pickup and race registration begins
• Get the party started with DJ Zeus
• Family Fun (petting zoo, face painting, tattoo, festive photo booth and so much MORE!)
• Exhibitor extravaganza opens

7:40 am

• Turn up the heat with pre-race warmups by The Fitness Equation

8 a.m. – 5K'ers get the party started
8:10 a.m. – 10K'ers keep the party going strong
8:20 a.m. – Amp up your energy with food at the finish line
8:45 –9:15 a.m. - Musical performance
9:15 a.m.– 5K/10K Awards party hosted under the stage
9:30 a.m. – 1K Jammie Jingle brings on the noise
9:45 a.m. – Costume Contest winner announced
9:45 a.m. – Musical Performances, The after party continues
10:30 a.m. – Last Call
