National Toys for Tots Conference This Week in Loudoun

Children still have a few months to get those letters to Santa, but organizers behind the annual Toys for Tots campaign will be preparing for their holiday gift-giving efforts during a conference this week in Loudoun County.

Around 500 coordinators will gather at the National Conference Center this week in Leesburg for the 2015 Toys for Tots Coordinator Conference.

Toys for Tots, a national charity program run by the United States Marine Corps collects, distributes toys to families that may be struggling to purchase gifts during the holiday season.

The conference, held from Sept. 17-20, will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn from each other and share experiences.

“They will learn everything from handling donations and coordinating toy drop offs to a basic understanding of how IRS tax rules affect the campaign,” according to a press release by the National Conference Center.
