Northern Virginia Science Center Breaks Ground At Kincora
Construction will get underway on the Northern Virginia Science Center, which will be an interactive museum focused on STEM.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A new interactive science center focused on teaching children about STEM broke ground in Loudoun County earlier this week.
Local officials joined the groundbreaking on Knowledge Drive at the Kincora mixed-use development, which is just south of Route 7 and west of Route 28. The campaign to introduce a science center is a public-private partnership between the nonprofit Children’s Science Center, the Commonwealth of Virginia's Science Museum of Virginia and Loudoun County. Others have supported the future center through its Launch the Future campaign.
"This Science Center is going to be enjoyed by not just people in the region or just Virginia, but many states are going to enjoy this," said Phyllis Randall, chair of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, at the groundbreaking. "This is the only major metropolitan region without a science center. We have a perfect area for it in Kincora, and it will welcome people from Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, but also people from West Virginia and Pennsylvania are all going to come see this science center."

The Northern Virginia Science Center says it will offer immersive learning experiences and interactive programs for visitors of all ages. Visitors will have access to exhibits, innovative technology and collaborative spaces for students, teachers and families to use for experimental learning. The center anticipates it could have hundreds of visitors each year when it opens.
The science center is part of the 242-acre Kincora mixed-use development, which features residences and plans for retail, office and hotel space. Areas already developed at Kincora are 200 townhouse-style condos by Lennar, 333 luxury apartments by TRITEC called The Jameson, 96 affordable units called the Heronview, two-level condos from DRB Homes, a Wawa convenience store, Cyrus One's 1.3 million-square-foot data center and nature trails. Along with the science center, it will be home to the future National Museum of Intelligence and Special Operations.
