Law enforcement personnel from all over the region were in Ashburn today learning about trauma kits intended to provide critical emergency care during extreme or lifesaving situations.
The Northern Virginia Emergency Response System (NVERS) plans to distribute 2,100 of the kits, called Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) responder trauma kits. The kits are intended for law enforcement officers, but can be used to provide care for the public in a situation such as the Boston Marathon bombing.
NVERS will distribute the kits to agencies associated with the Northern Virginia Sheriffs and Police Chiefs Committee. The Virginia State Police, Amtrak police and the U.S. Capitol Police will participate in the training exercise, but purchase their own kits.
