The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says construction site thefts are becoming an alarmingly common trend in the region. In the first two months of 2014, there were 29 reported larcenies from construction sites. Two weeks ago, copper wiring was reported missing from multiple construction sites in Ashburn and Aldie.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to report any suspicious activity seen at construction sites, particularly after hours. Items commonly targeted by the thieves include tools, building materials and copper. The thieves typically enter unfinished homes where materials and appliances are often left unsecured.
