Fatal Stabbing In Sterling Tied To Altercation, Suspect Arrested: Sheriff's Office

An Alexandria man was charged in a stabbing outside a Sterling home. The victim died of his injuries at the hospital.

STERLING, VA — A stabbing in the Sugarland Run neighborhood of Sterling killed a man on Saturday. An Alexandria man was charged in the stabbing, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's deputies responded around 10:22 p.m. Saturday to the 20 block of Carolina Court. The stabbing happened outside a home, and the sheriff's office said Wesley Richard Scott, 40, of Sterling, was taken to the hospital and died Sunday.

The suspect was identified as Lathius Noel Martin, 40, of Alexandria. Martin was arrested during a traffic stop and was charged with aggravated malicious wounding. He was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

Additional charges are possible as the medical examiner conducts an autopsy. The sheriff's office is consulting with the medical examiner and Commonwealth's Attorney's offices.

A preliminary investigation indicates the suspect and victim know each other. The sheriff's office believed the stabbing resulted from an altercation. There is no further threat to the public, the sheriff's office said.
