Greene's sentence stems from a June 7, 2023 armed robbery at the Exxon at 23050 Pacific Boulevard in Sterling. According to the Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney, Green entered the convenience store wearing a mask and pushed the store clerk as she was mopping the floor. The defendant pointed what the employee believed was a gun at her face and demanded money. He then struck the victim over the head with the gun, causing a bleeding wound.

The victim tried to defend herself by striking Green in the head with a coffee pot and told him to get the money. Green stole $120 from the register and fled. The victim was treated at the scene.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office put out a suspect description after the robbery and arrested Greene on Feb. 27, 2024. Sheriff's deputies searching Greene found plastic baggies containing cyputylone, a synthetic stimulant.

Prosecutors say Green has a criminal history, including a felony conviction of grand larceny from October 2004 in Frederick County and an arrest in Leesburg in June 2022. In May 2022, Leesburg Police had responded to a man appearing to hold a rifle outside an apartment complex and telling a passerby "someone had to call me because some people got stupid in their crib," according to the prosecutor's office. Police had found a vial containing PCP and plastic baggies of cocaine. Green had been released on bond in June 2022.
