Suspected Drunk Teacher Arrested At Elementary School: LCSO
A physical education teacher suspected of being drunk at an elementary school in Sterling was arrested Thursday, according to authorities.

STERLING, VA — A physical education teacher suspected of being drunk at Horizon Elementary School was arrested Thursday, May 9, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Gary Kris Goodwin, 40, of Leesburg, was charged with drinking or possessing alcoholic beverages in or on public school grounds and public intoxication.
Around 10:45 a.m., an LCSO School Resource Deputy was contacted by school personnel that a PE teacher possibly was intoxicated. Police investigated and found bottles of alcohol in Goodwin's vehicle, which was parked at the school, 46665 Broadmore Drive.
On the Horizon Elementary School website, Goodwin is said to be in his ninth year of teaching and also as the boys' varsity head soccer coach at Loudoun County High School, but that school's athletic website lists Michael Alvarado as coach. Rather, Goodwin is listed as coach at Riverside High in Leesburg on that school's website.
