Trial Date Set for Ashburn Man Accused of Killing Estranged Wife

The Ashburn man charged with the March killing of his estranged wife is scheduled to go on trial July 6, 2015.

A Loudoun County Circuit Court judge denied a prosecution request last Wednesday to revoke Braulio Castillo’s $2 million bond payment. Braulio managed to raise the bond even though many of his assets were frozen at the request of his adult son, NBC Washington reports.

Braulio Castillo, 43, of Ashburn, was arrested April 1 and charged with first-degree murder for the March 19 killing of Michelle Castillo. The mother of five’s body was found hanging in her bathroom shower. She was reportedly beaten and strangled before she was found hanging from the basement shower in what authorities called a staged suicide.

Prosecutors allege a neighbor’s surveillance video shows a person, later identified as Braulio Castillo, sneaking into and out of Michelle Castillo’s home.
