What's Open, Closed For Christmas 2024 In Ashburn, Loudoun County

The Christmas holiday will result in closures for one or more days and other service adjustments.

ASHBURN, VA — Families will get a holiday break from work and school to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, and other winter holidays.

This year, Christmas falls on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and may result in holiday closures and schedule changes over several days. In Ashburn and the rest of Loudoun County, schools are closed for an extended break. Local government offices and some other services will be closed for several days.

Here are all the openings and closings to know around Ashburn and Loudoun County for Christmas Eve on Dec. 24 and Christmas Day on Dec. 25.

Loudoun County government offices: Closed on Dec. 24 and 25.

Loudoun County Public Schools: Closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3.

ABC Stores: Virginia ABC stores will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25.

Courts: Loudoun County courts and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia are closed Dec. 24 to 26.

Department of Motor Vehicles: Virginia DMV locations will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25.

Dulles Town Center: Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25.

Leesburg Premium Outlets: Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25.

Libraries: Loudoun County libraries will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25.

Loudoun County Transit: The Loudoun County Courthouse Shuttle will not operate on Dec. 24, and all Loudoun County Transit bus service will not run on Dec. 25.

Metro: On Dec. 20 to 26, Farragut West, McPherson Square, and the lower level (Blue, Orange, Silver service) at Metro Center will be closed. On Dec. 27 to 30, Farragut West, McPherson Square; lower level (Blue, Orange, Silver service) at Metro Center, Federal Triangle, and Smithsonian; and the lower level of L'Enfant Plaza (Blue, Orange, Silver service) will be closed. Free shuttle buses will serve closed stations. Dec. 24 will have a regular weekday schedule from 5 a.m. to midnight. Dec. 25 will bring a reduced Sunday service schedule to Metrorail from 7 a.m. to midnight.

Office of Elections: Office of Elections is closed on Dec. 24 and 25, which includes in-person early voting for special elections.

Parks and recreation: Community centers, senior centers, adult day centers, the Franklin Park Arts Center, and the Loudoun County Parks, Recreation, Community Services administrative office will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. Recreation centers, including the Round Hill Indoor Aquatic Center, will close at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25. Childcare and Kid Kare will not be provided at the recreation centers on Dec. 24. Park grounds, including trails, gardens, playgrounds, off-leash areas, skate parks, courts, and fields remain open from dawn to dusk.

Post offices: Closed on Dec. 25.

Trash and recycling: For private trash collection services, changes may vary. Check with your hauler for more information.
