What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2025 In Ashburn, Loudoun County
The Labor Day holiday, the unofficial farewell to summer, will bring closures around Ashburn and the rest of Loudoun County.
ASHBURN, VA — Although the last day of summer isn't until Sept. 21, residents will unofficially say farewell to summer over Labor Day weekend. That's when many families will have one last backyard barbecue, visits to the local pools or trips to the beach.
Many services will close or have adjusted schedules for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 1. Here are the closures to know around Ashburn and the rest of Loudoun County.
Loudoun County government: Closed on Sept. 1.

Loudoun County Public Schools: Aug. 29 is a student holiday and Sept. 1 is a holiday at LCPS.
Loudoun County courts: General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and Circuit Court will be closed on Sept. 1.

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers in Northern Virginia will be closed on Sept. 1.
Library: All Loudoun County Public Library branches will be closed on Sept. 1.
Loudoun County Transit: All Loudoun County Transit services are canceled on Sept. 1, including Commuter Bus Service, Local Bus Service (including routes serving the Silver Line Metrorail Stations), Transit On Demand, the Loudoun County Courthouse Shuttle and Paratransit Bus Service. The Transit and Commuter Services Division will close at 5 p.m. on Aug. 29 and reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 2. Inquiries received during the closure will be addressed when the office reopens. Metro: On Sept. 1, Metrorail will open at 6 a.m. and close at midnight with regular Sunday service, and Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule. MetroAccess riders may make a reservation, but subscription trips will be canceled. Naylor Road, Suitland, and Branch Av stations are closed Aug. 30 and 31 with free shuttle buses as a replacement. Outdoor pools: The Lovettsville Community Center Pool and Franklin Regional Park Pool and Splash Pad will be open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 for the last day of the season. The splash pad at Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park will be open from 10 a. m. to 7 p.m., and it will be open until Sept. 28.
Parks and recreation: Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services administrative offices, senior and adult day centers, all community centers, the Round Hill Aquatic Center, and the Franklin Park Arts Center will be closed on Sept. 1. The Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center and the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Park grounds, including trails, gardens, playgrounds, off-leash areas, skate parks, courts, and fields will remain open from dawn to dusk. The Ashburn Recreation and Community Center, the Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center, and the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 1, but there will be no Kid Kare or childcare.
Post offices: Closed on Sept. 1.
Recreation centers: Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center and Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center are closed on Sept. 1.
Trash and recycling: The Town of Leesburg will have no trash, recycling or yard waste collections on Sept. 1 and will have a revised schedule that week. Residents with private collection services should check with their hauler for any changes.
