• Bedford Fire Department responds to Carbon Monoxide leak at Spring Oak, no injuries reported (wsls.com) — Residents at Spring Oak at Bedford, the Elks Home, were safely evacuated Wednesday evening after the Bedford Fire Department found dangerously high carbon monoxide levels in one wing of the building. Crews, staff, and a maintenance company quickly located and fixed the boiler-related leaks, ventilated all affected areas, and cleared the scene in about four hours with no injuries reported.
   

• Man pleads guilty to credit card skimming at Virginia Walmarts (wset.com) — Bedford County residents should know a man tied to a multi-locality credit card skimming scheme received a seven-month sentence there, on top of a 10‑month jail term from a Lynchburg conviction. Authorities say he placed skimmers at Virginia Walmarts to capture card data via Bluetooth, and he still faces related charges in several other jurisdictions.
