Here are the top three stories in Blacksburg today:

  1. Virginia Tech's 2023 powwow, hosted by the American Indian and Indigenous Community Center and Native at VT, will take place at noon on the school's Graduate School lawn on Saturday, Apr. 29. The intertribal event aims to share and educate the community on Native culture and was started in 2017. In addition to performances, there will be vendors selling Native-made items, a cooking demonstration, and food options. (VTx)
  2. Five student-athletes will be competing in the 2023 US Open wrestling competition in Las Vegas. This competition is the first on the road to the 2023 World Championships and will take place Apr. 27-28 for the Senior Men's Freestyle and Apr. 29-30 for the U20 Men's Freestyle. Four Hokies will be competing in the Senior Division, and one will be competing in the U20 Division. (Hokies Sports)
  3. The Montgomery County VA Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its next Business After Hours at McClain's in Blacksburg on Thursday, Apr. 27 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. The event will feature networking opportunities, food, drinks, and a 50/50 cash raffle.
