  1. April's 3 Degree Guarantee recipient was just announced. Blacksburg Refugee Partnership, a charity supporting refugees in the region, was selected as the April recipient of donations from 10 News' 3 Degree Guarantee. The organization supports 30+ refugees in the community, providing resources to help ease the process of integrating into American society. (WSLS 10)
  2. A new grant will fund and launch a dental residency program in nearby Christiansburg. The Community Health Center of the NRV received a $500,000 grant to create a dental residency program for underserved populations, providing opportunities for dentists to gain experience and potentially stay in the area. There are hopes the residency will not only provide dental services for people that either have no insurance or have Medicaid but will train dentists with a passion to treat underserved populations. (WDBJ)
  3. Blacksburg's volunteer fire department took part in extinguishing the flames of a Saturday blaze. On Saturday afternoon, fire crews respond to a fully-engulfed vehicle fire in Christiansburg before upgrading the call to a working structure fire. Harsh wind conditions challenged Christiansburg, Riner Volunteer Fire Dept., and Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Dept. as they tackled multiple incidents across the county. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. (WSET)
