- Montgomery County receives $3.3 million for opioid prevention and outreach programs approved by the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority. The funding proposal was created by the New River Valley Regional Commission. The grant will fund an "ecosystem of recovery" program focusing on various aspects of recovery, including transportation, housing, treatments, and community education. (WFXR)
- The Montgomery Museum of Art and History, in nearby Christiansburg, aims to raise $40,000 for its 40th anniversary during GiveLocalNRV Day, which runs today (Jun. 28) from noon until noon on Jun. 29. The museum will host an open house party today from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funding will go towards a children's corner, arts expansion and a new education lab. - Uland Stevenson is the suspect accused of stealing a Floyd County ambulance near Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in nearby Christiansburg on Sunday. Stevenson has been charged with a felony of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. (WSLS 10)

- The parking lot for the Huckleberry Trail Fire Station 2 will be closed today (Jun. 28). Trail use in the area near the Fire Station will not be affected during this closure. The parking lot will reopen on Thursday, Jun. 29. For more information, click here. Also, testing at the Advanced Propulsion and Power Lab located at 1670 Innovation Drive will be done today (Jun. 28) from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A rig will be run multiple times during that time and will produce a "venting-like" noise for 10 minutes per run.
