- Blacksburg's Hand-in-Hand Playground reopened just in time for summer, delighting families in the town. After being closed for several months, the park unveiled its brand-new equipment on May 30. Parents who once played there as children now have the joy of bringing their own kids to experience the generational charm of the upgraded playground, which replaces equipment dating back three decades. - A crash on Interstate 81 northbound in Montgomery County on Tuesday morning resulted in the deaths of four individuals. The incident occurred when a Chevrolet SUV lost control, spun out, and was struck by a tractor-trailer. Following this collision, another crash took place, fortunately without any injuries reported. The interstate was closed for an extended duration due to the multiple-vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers and four passenger vehicles, causing significant traffic backups. (WSLS 10)
- Blacksburg softball's success can be attributed to their philosophy of "turning the page" and focusing on the next pitch, a principle they live by according to head coach Alec Staneck. This mindset has helped the team overcome a slow start and achieve an impressive 15-1 run. The strong bond between pitcher Lorelei Spradlin and catcher Katey Mathena further contributes to the team's success, allowing them to support each other and navigate challenging situations on the field. With their dedication, teamwork, and emphasis on enjoying the game, Blacksburg softball is poised for continued success. (WSLS 10)
