Here are the top three stories in Blacksburg today:

  1. A wildfire on Saturday forced the Blacksburg shooting range to temporarily be closed as the fire department works to make sure everything is safe and secure. Barrels are posted at the entrance of the range to prevent any vehicular entry as firefighters are working to make sure any potential threats are contained and handled safely. For more information on what is going on and the reopening of the range please visit the link provided here. (WSLS 10)
  2. The Hokies hosted an open practice this past week with spring ball underway ahead of the next season. A cloudy Saturday at Lane Stadium ended up being a beautiful afternoon as the Hokies took the field in front of hundreds of fans for their fifth practice. The competition will be key for this season as the team has a full roster during the spring with seven quarterbacks and a full room of receivers, including young freshmen and experienced transfers to go with their current players. (WSLS 10)
  3. This year's Virginia Tech team is giving similar feelings to the 1999 team that made its way to the Sweet Sixteen against the at-time number-one seed Tennessee. Roles were reversed this year as the Lady Hokies defeated the Volunteers in the Sweet Sixteen and will advance to the Elite Eight as the 1999 team lost to the same team. Filled with confidence, Virginia Tech will be taking on Ohio State tonight at 9 p.m. in the hope to make their way to the semi-finals of the tournament. (WDBJ)
