- A Virginia Tech professor, Dr. Stefano Brizzolara, provided insights into the missing Titanic submersible, highlighting the lack of redundancy and safety measures in the craft, as well as the challenges posed by extreme depth, pressure, and temperature. The absence of communication and orientation capabilities, along with the reliance on sonar mapping, further complicates the search efforts. The professor emphasized the difficulties of navigating in the darkness of the depths and the distortion caused by changes in salinity and temperature. (WDBJ)
- The nearby Mountain Lake Lodge in the Blue Ridge Mountains is once again in the national spotlight as Misty Belles, Vice President of Global PR at Virtuoso, discussed summer travel movies, including "Dirty Dancing," on TODAY. Belles highlighted the Lodge as the real-life Kellerman's from the iconic film and mentioned the Lodge's "Dirty Dancing" weekends and Baby's Cabins available for rent. She also revealed that filming for the "Dirty Dancing" sequel will take place at Mountain Lake Lodge later this year, with Lionsgate announcing the sequel's release date as Feb. 9, 2024. (WSLS 10)
