Braddock District Honors Residents, Employees For Their Public Service
Special recognition was given to Fairfax County School Board member Megan McLaughlin and Braddock District staff member Marcia Pape.

BURKE, VA — The Best of Braddock Awards were presented to residents and employees in the Braddock District, with special recognition to Fairfax County School Board member Megan McLaughlin and Braddock District staff member Marcia Pape.
More than 100 community members attended the awards ceremony on Dec. 6 at the Braddock District office in Burke.
The award winners were selected by members of the Braddock District Council.

Erik De Turk of Kings Park was awarded the Braddock District Citizen of the Year award, while Autumn D. was honored with the Young Person of the Year award.
Don Pederson of the North Springfield Little League was honored with the Organization Making a Difference in the Braddock District award.

The Neighborhood Enhancement or Beautification in the Braddock District award went to Dave Moulton, and the Civic Engagement award went to Ben Breaux of Kings Park West.

Tony Capizzi of the Fairfax County Police Department’s West Springfield District was honored with the Most “Can Do” Public Employee award, as was Pape of the Braddock District supervisor’s office.
McLaughlin, who decided not to run for re-election in 2023, was honored for her 12 years of service on the Fairfax County School Board.
U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly, Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano, former Braddock District Supervisor John Cook and incoming Braddock District school board member Rachna Sizemore Heizer were among the local officials who attended the ceremony.
