Burke Centre Library to Celebrate Fifth Anniversary Saturday
The library will host several community events on Saturday to celebrate five years in the Burke community.

Break out the party hats: the Burke Centre Library will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Saturday.
The library, which opened in the Burke Centre neighborhood in June 2008, plans to celebrate with “Birthday Bash” festivities all day on Saturday. The party kicks off at 10 a.m. with balloon art and there will be a party at 1 p.m. The events, which are cosponsored by the Friends of the Burke Centre Library, will end at 5 p.m.
“Five years have passed in the blink of an eye. Burke Centre staff invites you to our Birthday Bash to enjoy all the branch has to offer today and in the years to come,” said Branch Manager Linda Schlekau in a news release from the Fairfax County Public Library. “With the help of our Friends, scouts and volunteers, Burke Centre Library has weathered many changes, but the one thing that has never changed is the staff dedication to serving our community.”

The 16,720-square foot library was designed under the Leadership Energy in Environmental Design (LEED) program and is gold-LEED certified, according to the release. Around 13,000 visited the library in April and checked out more than 24,000 items.
