According to a survey conducted by the National Retail Federation (NRF), many consumers will splurge on brunch or dinner for Mother's Day this year. Consumers are expected to spend a total of about $3.5 billion.

Flowers 'N' Ferns in Burke Town Plaza has several special Mother's Day arrangements available for mom's day, including their Springtime Delight Vase for $55 and their Mommy and Me bouquet for $59.95. An employee at the store said customers have until Saturday to pick up those arrangements.

There's also Burke Nursery & Garden Centre and Twinbrook Floral Design off of Braddock Road in nearby Fairfax for all your Mother's Day flower needs. Twinbrook also offers chocolates and fruit baskets for sale if you're in need of an extra gift.

If florist prices are too much for your budget, try the flower shop selection at your local grocery store. Giant has hydrangea plants for $9.99, rose plants for $10.99 and tulip bunches for $6.99. Safeway has a dozen-rose bouquet for $9.99 and a classic bouquet for $25.

Dining Out on Mother's Day

There's also no shortage of local restaurants to dine at here in Burke for Mother's Day. Options include Spartans Family Restaurant, Glory Days Grill, Cafe Rio, Hopsfrog Grille, and plenty more.

Best Bet for Gifts

The NRF survey shows that consumers are looking to pamper moms this Mother's Day. Shoppers are expected to spend $168.94 on mom this year — an 11 percent increase from last year’s $152.52 — according to a recent news release. Total spending is estimated at about $21 billion.
