'It's Academic': Quiz Show To Feature Lake Braddock, West Springfield
Students from West Springfield High and Lake Braddock Secondary School will be featured on episodes of "It's Academic" airing in January.

BURKE/WEST SPRINGFIELD, VA — Students from West Springfield High School and Lake Braddock Secondary School will be featured on episodes of “It’s Academic” airing in January.
“It’s Academic” is recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s longest-running quiz program in TV history. Throughout the show’s run, thousands of students from high schools across the D.C. area have competed. Now in its 63rd season, “It’s Academic” will be broadcast on WETA.
Students from West Springfield High School will be competing against Parkdale High School in Riverdale Park, Maryland and Rockville High School in Rockville in an episode of “It’s Academic” airing on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Students from Lake Braddock Secondary School will be competing against Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Maryland, and Colonel Zadok Magruder High School in Rockville in an episode airing on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Episodes are initially broadcast on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on WETA PBS. Each episode will encore the following Monday at 3 p.m. on WETA PBS.

“It’s Academic” is hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Hillary Howard and produced by Altman Productions, Inc. in cooperation with DMR Productions LLC.
Mac McGarry hosted “It’s Academic” for five decades, from 1961, when it first aired, until 2011. The show aired on NBC-owned WRC-TV during McGarry’s long tenure as host.
