Man, 93, Dies In Hospital After 2-Vehicle Crash In Burke: Police

A 93-year-old man died in the hospital Monday night after he was injured in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Burke, police said.

BURKE, VA — A man died Monday night after getting injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Keene Mill Road and Huntsman Blvd. in Burke, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The man, John Rowley Jr., 93, of Springfield was taken to a nearby hospital after the crash with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening at the time. But after his condition deteriorated, Rowley died at the hospital, police said.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, police officers responded to the report of a crash at the intersection of Old Keene Mill Road and Huntsman Boulevard.

The driver of a 2016 Dodge Journey was traveling eastbound on Old Keene Mill Road. Rowley was driving a 2017 Toyota Camry. Rowley attempted to turn left onto southbound Huntsman Blvd. from Old Keene Mill Road. He turned in front of the Dodge SUV, resulting in the crash, police said.

Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash. Speed and alcohol are under investigation, police said.
