Spartanfest, Domestic Violence Fundraiser, Stop Hunger Now
Five things to look forward to in Burke this week.

Happy Monday, Burke! Ready to kick off another week? Here's a look at five upcoming events in the next few days.
- The West Springfield High School (WSHS) Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) will host the 28th Annual Spartanfest Craft Fair Saturday in the WSHS cafeteria and gym, located at 6100 Rolling Rd. in Springfield. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The goal of Spartanfest is to is to raise money for mini-grants for teachers and staff at WSHS. Details here.
- St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Burke, located at 9203 Braddock Rd., will host a Stop Hunger Now event Saturday starting at 10 a.m. The church will pack 50,000 dehydrated meals in 2.5 hours. Details here.
- There will be a Domestic Violence Fundraiser Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at Kilroy's in Springfield, located at 5250 Port Royal Rd. The fundraiser will benefit Artemis House and CASA.
- The deadline for submitting online and paper applications to the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology’s 2014-15 freshman class is 4 p.m. on Oct. 18. Apply online at www.TJAdmissions.org.
- The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 5 Virginia General Election is 5 p.m. Tuesday. Find out how to register online.
