Springfield Teen Struck, Killed by Train Monday Night: Police
Girl, 18, was killed while walking with two friends on the tracks Monday night, police said.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A Springfield teenager was struck and killed by a train Monday night, Fairfax County Police announced Tuesday.
Fairfax County Police Officers and detectives responded to the 9500 block of Burke Road on Monday for the report of a pedestrian struck by a train at approximately 9:38 p.m.
The preliminary investigation determined that three friends were walking along the tracks when one was struck, according to police. Erika Dunn, 18, of Springfield, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she later died, police aid. No one else was injured.

The cause and manner of the death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The investigation is ongoing.
