Assistance League of Northern Virginia is very grateful to have received a generous grant again from The Giving Circle of Heritage Hunt. The Giving Circle is a nonprofit organization through which residents of the Heritage Hunt community in Gainesville pool their individual contributions to help charitable organizations in Prince William County. The Giving Circle awarded grants totaling $91,000 to 17 local nonprofits this year that address issues such as food insecurity, literacy, mental health, and housing in Prince William County. Assistance League will use its grant to purchase items for the 860 food bags that it delivers each month to students at three Title 1 elementary schools in Prince William County as part of its Weekend Food for Kids program. Students at those schools receive free meals during the week, but might lack sustenance on weekends when school-provided meals are not available.

Assistance League has benefited from the generosity of the Heritage Hunt residents for many years. The nonprofit has used previous grant funds to purchase clothing and shoes, grocery gift cards during the pandemic, and items for the weekend food bags. The nonprofit greatly appreciates the inspiring generosity of the Heritage Hunt residents and their sustained level of support. Assistance League hopes to continue its partnership with The Giving Circle for many years.
