Assistance League Provides Items for Hygiene Lessons

Counselors and Nurses Will Use Basic Toiletry Items In Programs For Students

About 30 members of Assistance League of Northern Virginia gathered recently to pack 756 packages of toiletries in less than an hour and deliver them to six Title 1 schools in Fairfax and Prince William counties. Upper-grade students received the packets in connection with their hygiene lessons. Each package contained a washcloth and soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, a comb and hairbrush. The school counselors and nurses who provide the hygiene lessons greatly appreciate having the toiletries as they introduce products to students who might not know about using them correctly or as often as needed. The nonprofit has delivered a total of 950 kits this school year, including those provided to two schools last fall. It is hoped that students who have these products for their hygiene class will develop a lifelong habit of good grooming.

Special thanks to RBH Global Wealth Management and to Dr. Lincoln German and Spine Care of Manassas Chiropractic Center, for providing the funding to purchase the washcloths included in the kits.

Also, Assistance League is delighted that Bob Kovacs has produced a wonderful video of this packing event. Check out the video to learn more about this project and the dedication of Assistance League members: https://youtu.be/XOPVnNvVS8Y
