Centreville, Westfield High Students Prepare to Take PSAT This Week

Students at both Westfield High School and Centreville High School are set to take the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) this week. 

The three-hour test will be administered Wednesday morning at both high schools, according to information released by Fairfax County Public Schools. 
Because of test, there are changes in the class bell schedule.
View the Westfield High School PSAT test day bell schedule here.  Centreville High School didn't post any notices about changes to its bell schedule on its website. 

Though ninth, 10th and 11th graders take the test, the county sponsors the test for 10th graders so there is no fee for those students to obtain their test scores. 

Ninth and 11th graders are required to pay $17 to receive their test scores. Students who pay will receive their test scores along with helpful test strategies at their homes via U.S. Mail. 

If they want their test scores, Centreville High Students must return the PSAT payment form and their money by Wednesday to Steve Komara at Centreville High School. 
Westfield students were required to have the fee paid by Friday, according to the school website. Call Westfield staff at 703-488-6300 for information about late payments. 

Students who haven't paid are still expected to take the test, division staff said. 

PSAt scores are reported on a scale of 20 to 80, according to The College Board.  

In 2012, the average score for 11th graders was 48 in critical reading, 49 in mathematics, and 47 in writing skills. The average score for 10th graders was 43 in Critical Reading, 44 in mathematics and 42 in writing skills.
