• Public hearing to name FCPS' new western high school set for tonight (ffxnow.com) — Centreville families could soon see a new high school option, as FCPS moves toward naming a western Fairfax County school that will serve students now in the Centreville High boundary. The board is taking public input on 10 proposed names, while planning specialized science and technology programs and inviting families to opt in for the 2026–27 school year.
   

• Harrisonburg pair sentenced in overdose death of Northern Virginia teen (rocktownnow.com) — An 18-year-old Centreville high school student’s fatal fentanyl poisoning has led to long federal prison sentences for two Harrisonburg residents involved in supplying the counterfeit pills. Prosecutors say the teen bought what he thought were Percocet tablets in early 2023, but they contained fentanyl and caused his death days later. The case underscores ongoing overdose risks facing Northern Virginia families.
   

• 20 Skimming Devices Found In Widespread Search In Fairfax County: See List (patch.com) — A payment-card skimming device was discovered at the 7-Eleven on Lee Highway in Centreville as part of a wider Fairfax County police sweep that found 20 devices across the county. Investigators, working with the U.S. Secret Service, are still seeking suspects and urge residents to closely inspect ATMs and card readers, use well-lit locations, and report any suspicious devices instead of trying to remove them.
