Crime Blotter: Burglaries, Man Assaulted After Breaking Up Fight

Also in this week's Sully District police report: an assault on a police officer, an indecent exposure and tools stolen from multiple vehicles.

Assault (blue on map)

On Monday around 4:15 p.m., a 55-year-old man stopped his vehicle by Spring Pond Road and Sunset Ridge Road to break up a fight between two groups of teenagers. Police said that some of the teenagers turned on the man and struck him several times before they fled. The man sustained minor injuries.

Burglaries (red on map)

A resident on the 13300 block of Balmoral Greens Avenue, reported on Sunday at 6 p.m. that someone entered the open attached garage. The suspects tired to steal an ATV and lawn mower, but fled without taking anything.

An employee at a business on the 6100 block of Old Arrington Lane reported on April 25 at 9:25 a.m. that someone stole copper wiring. Police believe the thief entered through a window.

Suspicious event (purple on map)

Fairfax County Police Officers were called to the 14100 block of Newbrook Drive, near Centreville, at 5:50 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious package.

After a visit from the department's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, officers found that the package was safe. Two DVDs were inside. 

Assault (green on map)

A Chantilly man is accused of resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. 

Maher Hana, 37, of Chantilly, was charged with assault, larceny and assault on a police officer. 

Police responded to the 4100 block of Meadowland Court on April 24 at 2:10 p.m., after they received report of a shoplifting and assault at a business on the 13300 block of Franklin Farm Road. Police said that Hana fled, then allegedly resisted officers after they tried to detain him. The first victim was not injured. The officer had minor injuries.

Indecent exposure (yellow on map)

A Centreville woman woke up in the middle of the night to find a man exposing himself outside her window, Fairfax County Police said. 

The 46-year-old woman reported on Wednesday that the incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. on the 14300 block of Summer Tree Road. The suspect fled before police arrived at the scene.
