Fire Guts Home In Centreville: Officials

An adult and three children jumped to safety from a second-floor window during a fire that gutted a home in Centreville: Fire and Rescue.

CENTREVILLE, VA—An adult and three children jumped to safety from a second-floor window early Sunday, April 28, during a fire that gutted a home in the 15100 block of Bronze Post Court, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Minor injuries were reported. Officials say the blaze started in an outdoor fireplace left unattended on the rear deck, and estimated damages were $530,425.

Around 1:50 a.m., units responded to the scene for a reported house fire and found a two-story, single-family home engulfed in flames. Around 60 firefighters ultimately arrived at the scene before the fire was brought under control. The fire was discovered by an occupant who tried to extinguish it with a garden hose before calling 911.
