Assault, Public Drunkenness Charges Filed Against Arlington Man
Two women walking in the Clarendon area called for police assistance after being followed closely by two men, police reported.

CLARENDON, VA — An Arlington man is facing multiple charges, including two counts of assault and battery of a police officer, in connection with an incident that occurred early Thursday in the Clarendon area, according to the daily crime report.
Arlington County police officers responded around 2:17 a.m. to the 1300 block of North Barton Street for the report of a suspicious person. Two women had reported that two men were following them closely. One of the men remained near their car, which made the two women feel too uncomfortable to enter it, which is when they decided to contact police, according to the report.
Police said one of the men appeared to be under the influence and refused to comply with the officer's command. As the officer began to take the man into custody for being drunk in public, the man became combative and started to struggle, police said. As the officer searched the suspect, the man continued to act disorderly and kicked two officers, according to police.
