Attempted Scooter Theft At Clarendon Business Under Investigation
Arlington County Police charged a D.C. man in connection with the attempted theft of scooters Sunday morning at a Clarendon business.
CLARENDON, VA — Arlington County Police charged a Washington, D.C. man for trying to steal scooters from a Clarendon business early Sunday morning, according to the daily crime report.
Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of 10th Street N. for the report of an alarm going off at a Clarendon business, as well as reports of people trying to steal scooters from the business. Arriving on the scene, the officers observed three suspects running away. Police established a perimeter and apprehended one of the suspects. They continued the search but were unable to locate the other two suspects.
A preliminary investigation revealed the three people had attempted to steal motorized scooters and load them into a truck, according to police.

Police say the man in custody at first provided false identifying information to police and that when he was searched he was found to be in possession of cocaine. During their investigation, police determine the suspect was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service.
ACPD arrested Olufemi Williams, 49, of Washington, D.C. and charged him with grand larceny, possession of a schedule I/II controlled substance and identity theft. He is being held without bond.
