Police: Man, 21, Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in Christmas Eve Pedestrian Crash

A 21-year-old Alexandria man has been taken into custody on an involuntary manslaughter charge stemming from a fatal pedestrian accident on Christmas Eve.
Farhan Mohammad Khan is currently being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.
According to the Arlington County Police Department, Khan was driving northbound on North Glebe Road at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 24 when he ran a red light and struck a car in the intersection of North Randolph Street.

His car spun out of control, striking 30-year-old Shabnam Motahhar-Tehrani, who had been standing in the sidewalk, according to police. She was pronounced dead that evening.
The involuntary manslaughter charge carries a maximum sentence of up to ten years.
