Woman Struck In Head With Bottle At Courthouse Hotel Leads To Malicious Wounding Arrest

COURTHOUSE, VA — Arlington County Police arrested an Alexandria man early Saturday morning after a woman at a Courthouse area hotel was struck in the head with a bottle and seriously injured, according to the daily crime report.

Police responded around 2:06 a.m. for the report of an assault with injury at the Clarion Collection Hotel Arlington Court Suites in the 1200 block of North Courthouse Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was inside the hotel with a group of people when she began to argue with a person she knew. Police say that the suspect hit the woman in the head with a glass bottle. Although the victim was able to leave the building, the suspect followed her and hit her again in the head with his fist, according to police.

The victim received serious but non-life-threatening injuries from the encounter and she was taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

Police arrested 19-year-old Christopher Funes-Recinos of Alexandria and charged him with malicious wounding. He was then held without bond.
