Public Schools parts ways with superintendent, appoints interim (wavy.com) — Southampton County Public Schools, based in Courtland, will have a new interim superintendent starting Jan. 1 after the school board voted Dec. 11 to end Superintendent Dr. Gwendolyn Shannon’s contract. Officials cited financial mismanagement findings and leadership concerns, and have appointed former Richmond School Board member Dr. Shonda Harris-Muhammed while launching a search and a new transparency committee.
