1 Dead, 1 Injured In Shooting At Dale City Home: Police

A 55-year-old man was shot and killed on Friday morning after a domestic dispute, police said. A 52-year-old woman was also shot.

DALE CITY, VA — Two people were shot in a home in Dale City on Friday morning, according to the Prince William County Police Department. One victim, a 55-year-old man, was killed. The other victim, who police identified as a 52-year-old woman, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to a nearby hospital.

The deceased man was identified as Darin Carlyle Moore. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting, but they believe that it was an isolated incident.

Police officers began to respond to a home in the 14700 block of Darbydale Avenue at 2:23 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 10. A report from the police department said the incident began as a domestic dispute.

As officers were on their way to the scene, they received more information that indicated that gunshots were fired in the home, according to the police report. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an 8-year-old boy and evacuated him from the home.

When they entered the home, the officers found two victims who had suffered gunshot wounds, the police department announced on Friday. Authorities said both victims were shot inside the home.

The man, who was later identified as Moore, was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was still alive when police entered the home, and they administered first aid to her until rescue personnel arrived.

She was flown to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

"At this time, the incident appears to involve the two parties and was isolated to the residence," the police department wrote in a report. "There is no threat to the community."

The 8-year-old boy who police evacuated from the scene was in the home at the time of the shooting, authorities said. He was uninjured and released to the custody of a family member.

Officers said they recovered a firearm from the scene of the shooting. No charges have been announced, and the investigation is still ongoing.
